Our Operation
Once admitted to Projeto Pró Criança Cardíaca Foundation, the child first undergoes a detailed assessment consisting of medical examinations, ECG, and Echocardiogram. A proper diagnosis requires a joint effort using the combined resources of both the clinic and the support hospital (Pró Cardíaco Hospital), which are in close proximity. During the process from diagnosis to treatment, the same medical team attends to the child, giving him/her and his/her family members a sense of security. Immediately after the diagnosis, the procedure for treatment is determined. Surgeries, using the latest technology, are performed at the private hospital where Dr. Barbosa heads a small pediatric cardiac unit. All costs are covered by Projeto Pró Criança Foundation which is fully sustained by contributions, donations and fundraisers.
Prior to leaving from the hospital, follow-up care is scheduled. Medication, food and clothing are also provided prior to leaving.
In 2003, a dental office was opened at the Foundation. Each child receives dental care as a preventive measure from infection.
